Focusing

Maybe you are at a crossroads in your life and wondering which path to take. Perhaps you are feeling stuck and unable to move forward. 

You might have tried working out your next steps logically, reading self help books and so on. Perhaps that helped a little and yet you are still searching for answers.

Focusing enables you to tap into your inner knowing and wisdom. To gain self-understanding and to discover what it is that you really want.




Focusing can help.....

You can focus upon particular problems in addition to less specific issues. For example a sense of emptiness, an unsettled feeling, restlessness, a vague sense that all is not well, a wish for fulfillment, a longing for something.


 Focusing

Perhaps occasionally you become aware of vague sensations in your body such as butterflies in your stomach and a faint pressure in your chest. Gene Gendlin who initially wrote about Focusing calls this the'felt sense'. The felt sense is very hazy and easily missed. Focusing provides a way of giving attention to the felt sense, allowing it to become more fully formed and clear. Making contact with the felt sense and then deepening contact with the felt sense can enable the Focuser to reach deeper understandings about themselves, their emotions, how they want to proceed in a situation and what might be stopping them from moving forward in various areas of their life. 

What is Inner Relationship Focusing?

Self-in Presence is a term that has been coined by Ann Weiser Cornell and Barbara McGavin. When you are Self-in-Presence  every sensation, feeling and emotion can be welcomed,  accepted and held without becoming overwhelming. This makes it safe for more to be revealed and for greater insights to be reached.
